Rick Rein is counsel in Kilpatrick's complex litigation group in Chicago, concentrating on fraud, asset recovery, loan enforcement, and creditor’s rights. Since joining the firm in 2024, Rick has represented financial institutions, bankruptcy trustees, receivers, private lenders, and high-net-worth individuals in resolving complex commercial disputes, post-judgment collections, business divorces, and cross-border asset recoveries. He is particularly recognized for his innovative strategies in international asset tracing and representing receivers in sophisticated fraud matters. Rick’s notable accomplishments include being the first U.S. attorney to utilize the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty in Uruguay, securing Norwich Pharmacal relief in Vancouver, and enforcing consent directives in U.S. bankruptcy court. Prior to Kilpatrick, Rick was a partner at HMB Legal Counsel, focusing on international asset recovery and creditors’ rights. He is consistently listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights and has been honored by Leading Lawyers magazine and Marquis Who’s Who for his expertise in asset recovery and commercial litigation.
