David Castleman is a partner at Otterbourg P.C. in New York, focusing on federal equity receiverships, bankruptcy, and complex litigation. Since 2022, Dave has served as Receiver over a $250 million alleged Ponzi scheme in the Southern District of New York, where he recently oversaw that distribution of over $98 million to over 28,000 defrauded investors. He has also been appointed as receiver in other federal and state cases. Dave has represented creditors and committees in complex bankruptcies, serving in 2025 as trial counsel to the primary objector in Johnson & Johnson $9 billion talc bankruptcy in the Southern District of Texas. Earlier this year, Dave was recognized by Lawdragon as one of the country’s 500 Leading Global Bankruptcy and Restructuring Lawyers.
